Nightclub Sexual Assault Survivor: Amanda

Are morality-based dress codes in schools and workplaces a misogynistic tool and extension of rape culture? We say yes! And we make the case in this episode. Listen and let us know if you agree.

Amanda discusses how dress codes teach girls at a young age that it is their responsibility to avoid "distracting" boys while teaching boys to blame girls for their sexual feelings and responses. Teaching unhealthy gender-based roles to children during their formative years can lead to some boys and men believing they have access to the bodies of women who dress or act a certain way or simply find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Amanda was sexually assaulted by one such man in a nightclub when she was 18.
